Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Nights

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
  • Unit: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Required to float within scope to similar units as needed
  • Block Scheduling: Open to accommodation
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (50-mile radius restriction)
  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shift call-offs per 13-week assignment; all contracted shifts beyond that are guaranteed
  • Return Staff Policy: Must be off assignment for 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (one extension allowed), then must be off for 6 months before returning

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Background and Health Requirements

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 6 months prior to start; includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable
  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C; annual update required
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (specific substances tested)
  • TB Screening: Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual renewal required
  • Vaccinations and Titers:
    • TDAP within last 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or borderline
    • Varicella – titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or borderline
    • Hepatitis B – vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
    • Flu Vaccine – required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical or religious exemptions require facility-approved documentation; declinations not accepted
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required but accepted if available

  • Professional passport-style photo for badge (no large earrings, face piercings, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings unless religious)
  • Completion and signing of various facility forms prior to start, including:

    • Conflict of Interest Questionnaire
    • Staff Call Out Acknowledgement
    • Corporate Code of Conduct Acknowledgement

  • Completion of mandatory orientation modules prior to start (due Monday before start date)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared for a 1:5-6 patient ratio on MS/Telemetry night shifts
  • Floating between like units is expected to meet facility needs
  • Background convictions within the last year or active cases will disqualify candidates
  • Facility enforces strict policies on certification expiration; all certifications must be current at start date
  • Return travelers must adhere to facility’s contract limits and return policies
