Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Lactation Consultant within Labor and Delivery
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 3 patients
- Weekend work required (unless schedule states otherwise)
- Floating: May float within the hospital, but not to sister hospitals
- Block scheduling not accommodated unless otherwise stated
- Local candidates accepted
- No call required
- RN must be skilled in newborn care including assessments, vital signs, glucose screening, baths, complex feeds, phototherapy, medication administration
- Must be skilled with magnesium, insulin, PCA/PCEA, and heparin infusions
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Skilled with magnesium infusions
- Skilled with heparin infusions
Additional Information
- Guaranteed hours: May be called off or placed on on-call status in 4-hour increments during low census, up to one shift worth of hours in a 2-week cycle
- Facility uses EPIC electronic health record system
- Magnet and teaching hospital environment with 637 staffed beds
- Scrub color: Any (scrubs provided for OR personnel)
- Parking cost approximately $10.26 daily
- Performance evaluation requested at end of assignment (Montlake location only)
- Radiation badges not provided by agency for new candidates; must be supplied by facility if needed
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Photo for badge (DMV style, no selfies) due Monday prior to start
- Signed PCIS and Pyxis agreements required prior to start (except some locations)
- Department checklist and email setup instructions provided before start
- WA license complaint clearance required for all using WA state license
- Umbilical cord blood collection training required for Labor & Delivery RNs
- Fit testing onsite available as last resort with prior approval
- Flu vaccination education module required if declining vaccine
- All certifications and background checks must be current and verifiable
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with lactation consultant certification who have prior travel contract experience and are ready to work in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment in Seattle, WA.
