Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per 2 weeks (4x12 hours, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 48

Unit & Patient Population

• 45-bed medical/surgical trauma unit (9 Trauma)
• Care for trauma patients who are hemodynamically and medically stable
• Fast-paced specialty medical/surgical unit
• Patients admitted from ED, ICU transfers, or surgical/procedural services
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 days, 1:6 nights (night ratio may rarely be 1:7)
• Drip infusions required on all floors

Key Job Details

• Travelers are first to float and must be prepared to float frequently within scope to meet staffing needs, including to other units and potentially to a nearby campus
• Units for floating may include various medical/surgical, neuro, observation, and specialty units
• Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat night)
• Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
• Pending license accepted but must be in hand before start; if not, booking will be 6 weeks out
• Facility is 100% nicotine-free
• Mandatory scrubs: Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
• Parking permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience within the last year
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background check within 30 days of start, including multi-county and federal checks
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and OIG checks required within 30 days and updated monthly
• Education verification required
• State-specific abuse/neglect registry check required
• Primary source license verification and NURSYS verification required
• Annual physical exam and fit mask test (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+) required
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap within last 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray with TB questionnaire if positive history
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (boosters if low/equivocal)
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters if low/equivocal)
  • Drug screen within 60 days of start and annually
  • Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
  • COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemptions accepted
• Annual skills checklist required
• Two professional references from the last 2 years required
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required

Additional Notes

• RTO (Request Time Off) blackout dates: June 11-22, 2026 (due to College World Series)
• Up to two weeks of RTO permitted; requests must be submitted with application and approved by manager
• Eye exam required only for OR staff (not applicable here)
