Registered Nurse - CVPICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Weekend-only option available (Fri-Sun schedule consideration).
- Floating required: must be willing to float to NICU, PICU, ED, stepdown, and medical-surgical units as needed.
- Assignment will be appropriate to experience and float expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Minimum of 2 years of CVPICU nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification only.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certification only.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for NICU RNs only.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable.
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - as applicable.
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam - passing score required.
- Competency Exam - passing score required.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year county search and education verification (standalone through National Student Clearing House).
- International background check if lived/worked internationally in past 7 years.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
- Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting within 60 days of start, must be updated for each new contract (code 2151.86).
- Sex offender search, Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Ohio Inmate Registry, Ohio Medicaid Exemption, and Ohio State Abuse Registry searches required within 30 days of start.
- Education verification required; official transcript if in-house verification incomplete.
- State license verification required within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start.
- Drug screen (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start, including amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, marijuana, methadone, phencyclidine, fentanyl.
- Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Affiliating Health Record completed by Quality Management.
- Infection Control Policy review and signature required prior to start.
- Fit mask (N95) testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually; onsite fit testing allowed if prior testing not completed.
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start (agency standard).
- TB testing options: 2 PPDs or QGOLD/TSPOT within 12 months; additional requirements if positive.
- Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Flu vaccine required between October 31 and May 31; medical/religious exemptions accepted with facility approval and mask requirement during flu season.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required within 10 years of start (after age 11).
- Immunization requirements for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B (declination accepted for Hep B if titer negative/equivocal). Boosters required if titers negative/equivocal.

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Floating to multiple units is mandatory.
- Resume or employment application copy required.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
This position offers a travel/contract opportunity for experienced pediatric critical care nurses willing to work night shifts and float across various pediatric units. Compliance with extensive background checks, certifications, and immunization requirements is mandatory.
