Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Registered Nurse)
Location: Los Angeles, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, nights (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Four weekend night shifts (Friday and/or Saturday) every 4-week schedule
- Float Requirement: Must be able to float to a Perinatal unit as needed
- Work Setting: High-risk labor and delivery environment with couplet care (mother and newborn)
- Patient Care: Care throughout childbirth experience including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, circulating for normal spontaneous vaginal deliveries (NSVDs) and C-sections
- Preferred Experience: Experience in an academic setting
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with high-risk patients and couplet care
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Verification requirements:
- State License 1 Verification
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
- Harassment Prevention Training Certificate
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID or driver's license
- Background checks including criminal history, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions (must be within 30 days of start)
- Education verification: BSN or MSN required for RNs
- Required certifications such as ACLS, PALS, EFM, and others may be required depending on unit assignment
- Facility-specific onboarding documents and training modules must be completed prior to start, including:
- HIPAA training
- Harassment prevention training
- Abuse reporting acknowledgments (elder, child, domestic)
- Confidentiality agreement
- Health documents including:
- Physical exam within the last year
- Immunizations and titers (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B) or declinations
- Negative TB test (QGold) within the last year
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination as per facility policy
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (Aya requirement)
- References: Two required, supervisor level or above, one within the last year
- Employment history verification for the last 5-7 years with explanations for gaps
