Registered Nurse (RN) Medical/Surgical – Night Shift Traveler

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Unit: Medical-Surgical, 45 beds (28 telemetry beds)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift)
Patient Ratio: 1:4 to 1:6
Schedule: Every Other Weekend (EOW) and Every Other Holiday (EOH)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a medical-surgical unit with telemetry beds.
• Virtual nurse assistance available hospital-wide.
• Work within established patient-to-nurse ratios.

Required Qualifications

Licensure & Certification

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience.
• Medical-Surgical and Telemetry experience must be within the last year.

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Health & Immunization Requirements

• COVID-19 vaccine preferred but not required; medical or religious exemptions accepted.
• Positive MMR titers within last 15 years; booster protocol applies if low titer.
• Positive Varicella titers within last 15 years; booster protocol applies if low titer.
• Tdap vaccination within the last 10 years (no declinations accepted).
• Hepatitis B: Proof of full series, partial series with declination, or positive titer within 15 years.
• Annual 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) test with negative results within last 6 months; if positive, clear chest X-ray and current TB questionnaire required.
• Fit test for N95 respirators completed within 1 year prior to start (specific mask models listed).
• Physical exam within 1 year prior to start confirming ability to work without restrictions.
• Influenza vaccine required October–March; declination requires mask-wearing and completion of specific forms.

Background & Compliance

• Completed I-9 or attestation confirming eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Ohio fingerprinting and criminal background checks:

  • If resident ≥5 years: Ohio BCI&I and FCRA-compliant national criminal background check.
  • If resident <5 years: Ohio BCI&I and FBI fingerprint check (FCRA-compliant).
  • Attestation allowed if fingerprints pending, with proof of completion.
• Criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, including social security trace and national sex offender search.
• OIG exclusion check within 6 months prior to start.
• SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC screening within 6 months prior to start.
• Employment verification for last 5 years through third-party.
• Education verification through third-party; international education requires equivalency documentation.
• National Database Criminal Background Check recommended for Ohio residents.

Testing & Competency

• Skills checklist specific to clinical area completed within 1 year prior to start (required at submission).
• Competency exam for relevant department with minimum 80% score, completed within 1 year prior to start.
• Core competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics) with minimum 80% score, completed within 1 year prior to start.
• Drug screen within 60 days prior to start; 10-panel urine drug screen required (instant tests not accepted).
• Non-expired photo ID (driver’s license or state ID) required.
• Badge photo (headshot, shoulders up, plain background) required.
