Job Summary
- Administer radiation therapy according to physician's instructions and patient treatment plans.
- Enter data into computer systems, set controls, and adjust equipment to regulate dosage.
- Assist physicians, radiation oncologists, and clinical physicists in preparing radiation treatment plans based on patient condition and anatomy.
- Construct patient immobilization devices as ordered.
- Maintain patient and billing records, including radiation dosages, equipment settings, and patient reactions.
- Perform routine and complex radiation therapy treatments such as total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and brachytherapy.
- Prepare equipment and treatment rooms for patients.
- Use appropriate protective equipment and procedures to ensure safety of patients, self, and others.
- Perform quality assurance procedures in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Provide clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists on the job.
Required Skills & Experience
- No prior experience required
Education Requirements
- Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program approved by the Council of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).
Certifications & Licensure
- Radiation Therapy certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
