Job Summary

• Administer radiation therapy according to physician's instructions and patient treatment plans.
• Enter data into computer systems, set controls, and adjust equipment to regulate dosage.
• Assist physicians, radiation oncologists, and clinical physicists in preparing radiation treatment plans based on patient condition and anatomy.
• Construct patient immobilization devices as ordered.
• Maintain patient and billing records, including radiation dosages, equipment settings, and patient reactions.
• Perform routine and complex radiation therapy treatments such as total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and brachytherapy.
• Prepare equipment and treatment rooms for patients.
• Use appropriate protective equipment and procedures to ensure safety of patients, self, and others.
• Perform quality assurance procedures in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
• Provide clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists on the job.

Required Skills & Experience

• No prior experience required

Education Requirements

• Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program approved by the Council of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).

Certifications & Licensure

• Radiation Therapy certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
