Job Opportunity: RN Step Down

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Job Description

• Work on a unit with the greatest need, which may be Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg), or Telemetry Stepdown based on your skills.
• Must have 2 years of experience in PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry Acute Care.
• Accepts RNs with Med-Surg or Stepdown experience (same credentialing for both).
• Must be able to float onsite within your skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
• Minimum 2 years of Stepdown experience, including experience within the last year.
• Med-Surg and Telemetry experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Valid driver’s license.

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

• Submission of professional resume/profile and at least two professional references.
• Completion of criminal background check including Social Security trace, OIG search, and national sex offender registry.
• Verification of nursing license and education within 30 days prior to start.
• Completion of specialty competency exams with a minimum passing score of 80%.
• Completion of required onboarding education and attestations, including:

  • Core competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.)
  • Specialty exam and skills checklist updated annually
  • EPIC test-out and training checklist
  • Color vision test
  • Health statement or physical exam prior to assignment and updated annually
• Confirmation of assignment documentation and employment verification for the past seven years.

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Floating to other units or nearby sites may be necessary based on staffing needs.
• The assignment is a 13-week long-term contract.

This position is ideal for experienced Step Down or Med-Surg RNs with strong acute care skills and EPIC experience, seeking a night shift travel assignment in Wisconsin.
