Registered Nurse – Cardiac Telemetry

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Work Environment

• Heart & Vascular Unit (49-bed specialty medical/surgical unit) focused on cardiovascular patient care including stable heart and lung transplants and Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs).
• Fast-paced environment providing professional growth in cardiovascular nursing.
• Patient ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights (rare).
• Drip infusions required on all floors.
• EPIC electronic charting system experience required.
• Floating required frequently to meet staffing needs, including to multiple other units and potentially a sister campus.
• Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some LPNs.
• 100% nicotine-free facility.
• Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat).
• Holiday work requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.

Schedule

• Shift: Day, 4 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Option for 36 or 48-hour work weeks.
• Contract options: 13 or 26 weeks.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Experience with EPIC electronic charting system.

Facility & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background check within 30 days of start, including multiple county/state/federal checks.
• Ongoing monthly SAM and OIG checks.
• Education verification required.
• State-specific abuse/neglect registry check required.
• Primary source license verification and NURSYS verification required.
• Annual physical exam and fit mask test required.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap within last 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire if positive history
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (boosters if needed)
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters if needed)
  • Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually
  • Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
  • COVID vaccine preferred (medical/religious exemption or declination accepted)
• Annual skills checklist required.
• 2 professional references from the last 2 years required.
• Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required.
• Scrubs: Steele gray scrubs with facility logo mandatory (provided after confirmation).
• Parking permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply.

Additional Notes

• Locals not accepted; candidate must live more than 100 miles from the facility.
• RTO (request time off) limited to 2 weeks, must be submitted with application; additional requests at manager discretion.
• Blackout dates for time off due to College World Series: June 11–22, 2026.
• Baseline eye exam required only for OR staff (not applicable here).
