Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PICU

Location: Newark, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Primary unit: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Float assignments may include Pediatrics and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and possibly other units based on skill set and hospital needs (floating confirmed with traveler)
Patient ratio approximately 1:2+
Unit size: 19 beds
Charting system: EPIC
Schedule: Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday)
Scrub color: Navy Blue
First-time travelers are not accepted

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
IV Certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Pros

Staff and management are very friendly. The ratios are pretty good. Sometimes it gets very busy and sometimes transport is put in by someone else before you even have the patient ready to go. They are very flexible with scheduling and their weekend requirements are reasonable.
