Job Opportunity: Sterile Processing Tech
Location: North Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Evening, Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (5x8 hours)
- Weekend Requirement: No
- Floating: May be required to float within scope to sister facilities or other campuses
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Local Radius: 60 miles; local candidates considered case-by-case

Note: During hurricane season (June–November, peak in August and September), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. Confirm availability accordingly.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- National certification required: CBSPD and/or HSPA
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have active, unencumbered license/certification relevant to Sterile Processing Tech role
- Primary source verification required
- Background checks including criminal, sex offender registry, and employment verification for past 7 years
- Fit test for N95 mask (specific models) required within 90 days prior to start and annually thereafter
- Radiation badge may be required depending on unit assignment
- Required health and safety certifications as applicable
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical assessment specific for Sterile Processing Techs, completed and signed by a licensed provider within 1 year of start
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) and Complete Blood Count (CBC) with differential required due to chemical exposure risk
- Annual physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest X-ray if prior positive
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap within 10 years or declination form)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
Documentation & Compliance
- Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts specifying area of study preferred
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Complete employment application/resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- Photo for badge: clear, passport-style, frontal view, business casual attire, no hats or sunglasses; must be submitted by Wednesday prior to start
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
- Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
- Radiation badge ordering process may take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start without badge if required
Additional Notes
- Floating or permanent reassignment to other campuses may be required
- Facility allows call-offs but guarantees most scheduled hours
- Travelers must complete all required documentation and certifications before start date
- Failure to complete orientation modules or submit required documentation may result in being sent home or delayed start
