Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery) with Mother/Baby experience
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Option to flex to a 4th shift if needed (overtime available after 48 hours)
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Prior travel experience preferred but not required
Required Certifications and Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation
- Background check within 30 days of start, including:
- 7-year criminal history check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification of highest degree/diploma
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated every contract renewal
- NURSYS verification (for all RNs) within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year, updated annually; chest X-ray required if past positive TB
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
Declinations accepted with appropriate documentation; incomplete series must be started prior to start date
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required October 1 – April 1 (or approved exemption)
- Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Completed employment application/resume
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
Additional Notes
- Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the agency for over 1 year
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement and competency exams required as applicable
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required with passing score
- Must include current NURSYS report and agency cover sheet with application
