Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Anniston, Alabama
Shift: Nights, Every Other Week (EOW), 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a Medical-Surgical unit with adult and geriatric patient populations.
• Float and possible charge nurse duties as needed.
• Option for 4x12-hour shifts available.
• Patient-to-nurse ratio approximately 6:1.
• Skills required: IV starts, isolation precautions, wound care including Wound Vac.
• Level II trauma experience preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Alabama.
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Experience

• Minimum years of experience in specialty not explicitly stated; travel experience preferred.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in last 7 years, including Social Security Trace, State Nationwide Criminal, and National Sex Offender checks.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required with all aliases.
• Official transcript, diploma, or third-party education verification required.
• Primary source verification of state license and national certification verification prior to start and upon expiration.
• NURSYS verification required prior to start.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start.
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start (annual renewal not required by client).
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity/declination:

  • Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines, history of chickenpox, or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
• Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or PPD) within past 12 months; follow-up chest X-ray if positive.
• Annual TB questionnaire.
• 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
• Flu vaccination or declination required year-round; decliners must wear a mask at work during flu season.

Additional Information

• Locals within a 60-mile radius considered.
• Must review and sign traveler attendance policy prior to start.
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required to meet Joint Commission standards (not client-mandated).
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam required to meet agency standards (not client-mandated).
• Travel start dates ASAP.
