Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 - 7:30)
Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2 weeks (may be called off for 1 shift per 2 weeks)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Start Date: ASAP
Unit & Facility Overview
- Unit: High Risk Labor and Delivery, including OB Triage/Testing, Labor & Delivery/Antepartum, OR suites, and PACU rooms
- Patient Volume: Average 7 daily deliveries, up to 14 with inductions and high-risk antepartum cases
- Facility Type: Acute hospital with 407 staffed beds
- Facility Designations: Magnet facility, Level II Trauma center, recognized as a top hospital in Alaska
- Charting System: Epic

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alaska
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- AWHONN certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Job Responsibilities & Expectations
- Primarily night shift; schedule may flip every 4 weeks if covering both day and night shifts
- May float within scope to similar units as needed
- No on-call requirement
- No block scheduling accommodation
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
- Time off requests approved individually and must be included in submission
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
- Education verification (nursing degree)
- NURSYS license verification for RNs
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (positive titer and vaccine series required for Alaska placements)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant acceptable)
- Respiratory safety clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel starts on or after 2/5/2024
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps or overlaps
Training & Competency Requirements
- Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
- Medication competency exam as applicable
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or completion of fetal heart rate monitoring assessment exam required for all L&D RNs
- Other certifications as required by unit or clinical track

- Floating policy acknowledgment required; may float to other nearby facilities
- Locals not accepted; candidate’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
- Time off requests handled on a case-by-case basis
