Schedule

• Night shift
• 3x12 hours
• 18:45–07:15
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• 2 mandatory call shifts per 6-week schedule

Contract Length

13–26 weeks

Unit Overview

• Labor and Delivery / Mother-Baby care
• Couplet care ratio: 1:4
• Approximately 800 births per year
• Floating is required to assist other units, but not to take assignments

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• Traveler experience
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• AWHONN
• NRP

Required Clinical Skills

• LDRP and Mother/Baby care
• Sterile speculum exam assistance
• Use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring)
• Use of External and Internal Fetal Monitoring
• Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Breastfeeding/lactation support
• Circulating C/S

• Self-scheduling
• 32-hour unit orientation
• Hospital-issued scrubs: Cecil blue; navy also allowed
