Shift & Hours
- Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- 36 hours per week, every other weekend
Job Summary
- Accountable for care of a group of patients in Labor & Delivery.
- Focus on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care.
- Responsible for assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans.
- Supervises licensed and non-licensed staff.
- Applies evidence-based practice and participates in quality improvement and regulatory compliance.
- Provides patient and family education and discharge planning.
- Functions as a mentor/preceptor and promotes teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments; make sound independent decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care collaboratively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Facilitate and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and participate in unit goals and performance improvement activities.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure environment.
- Recognize complex patient data to determine care priorities, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Address cultural and ethnic considerations in care planning.
- Engage in research and apply relevant findings to practice.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and EFM
- Acute care nursing experience
- Experience with Epic electronic medical records system
- Demonstrated mentoring skills
