Registered Nurse - ICU

Location: Bakersfield, California
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide independent nursing care to acutely ill patients under the supervision of nurse leadership. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic care in accordance with professional nursing standards and state regulations. Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop and execute individualized care plans. Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and emergency situations. Maintain quality and safety standards through evidence-based practices and adherence to infection control and medication protocols.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of ICU nursing experience
  • Valid and unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Knowledge of advanced nursing theory, medical terminology, equipment, and medication effects
  • Ability to maintain all health requirements as designated by the employer
  • May be required to obtain and maintain additional competency certificates depending on assignment

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document findings
  • Identify physiological and psychosocial risk factors and report deviations
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
  • Prioritize nursing actions based on clinical judgment and patient needs
  • Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary care teams
  • Adhere to infection control policies, medication administration, and controlled substance regulations
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and governance activities
  • Maintain compliance with nursing scope of practice, ethical standards, and hospital policies
  • Monitor personal and team adherence to safety and quality standards
