Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Location: Watertown, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 8-hour days (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40
On Call: Required with a response time of 30 minutes
Weekend and Holiday Work: Required

Job Description

• Provide quality patient care in the Operating Room (OR) setting with thorough knowledge of nursing principles.
• Assess patient needs including clinical, teaching, mental, and spiritual aspects.
• Recognize and address safety issues for self and others; implement safe patient handling using lifts.
• Function effectively in stressful situations with strong problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrate leadership abilities including prioritizing, delegating, and potentially assuming charge nurse duties.
• Utilize typical clinical equipment and instrumentation to maintain a safe and aseptic OR/ASU environment.
• Interpret lethal dysrhythmias.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal) are essential.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience in charge nurse roles.

Additional Notes

• Must be able to work within a 100-mile radius rule.
• Weekend, holiday, and on-call duties are part of the role.
