Unit Size: 44 beds, staffed by 40 personnel
Patient-to-Nurse Ratio: Typically 1:5, may be 1:6 on day and night shifts
Shifts: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: As needed
Floating: Required to float to all acute care and cardiology units, including emergency care for acute patient holds
Telemetry: Yes, but monitored on a different unit
Orientation:
- General orientation: 1 week (includes EMR training)
- Floor-specific orientation: 2 days
EMR System: Meditech (experience preferred but not required)
Nurse Aides: CNAs available, ratio generally 1:8 to 1:10, sometimes used as sitters
Uniform: Caribbean Blue scrub color

Valid RN license in Georgia
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
One completed travel assignment
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (AHA approved)
Must live within a strict 75-mile radius of the hospital as verified by the address on the traveler’s driver’s license
