Registered Nurse (OR RN)

Job Overview

• Work in a surgical environment with 13 operating rooms and 2 minor procedure rooms.
• Average of 60-70 cases per day.
• Common cases include General OB/GYN, Neuro, Vascular, Endovascular, Orthopedics, Plastics, Interventional Pain, ENT, Eyes, and Da Vinci robot-assisted surgeries.
• No bariatrics or transplant cases.
• Scrubbing required for RNs.
• Use of EPIC electronic medical record system.
• Orientation typically involves 2 shifts in the OR, with additional support during initial on-call shifts.

Scheduling & Call

• Rotating call schedule with staff scheduling their own call.
• Call frequency: RNs typically every 4th to 5th weekend; varies by service line.
• Weekday call shifts: 1st call (19:15–22:45), 2nd call (19:15–22:45), midnight call (22:45–06:45).
• Call response time: 30 minutes.
• Weekend call occurs 1-2 times every six-week schedule, consisting of 3-4 call shifts.
• Call rooms available onsite.
• Holiday coverage is by call rotation.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required only in PACU.
• Must have an unexpired driver’s license.

Experience & Skills

• Prefer candidates with a strong background in OR nursing.
• Comfortable floating to related areas such as Endovascular, Vascular, Urology, Gynecology, and Orthopedics if comfortable with General OR.
• Charge nurse role is staffed by permanent employees, not travelers.

• Dress code and scrub colors are provided.
• Conflict resolution with surgeons and staff may be necessary.
• Orientation includes pairing with experienced staff during initial on-call shifts.
• Weekend and holiday coverage as scheduled.
• No prior travel experience explicitly required.
