ICU Float Pool RN

Overview

  • Location: Phoenix, Arizona
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Days
  • Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • RN license
  • 2 years or more of ICU experience
  • Level I trauma experience
  • Teaching hospital experience
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • Cerner EMR experience
  • Must be able to pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam within 2 attempts
  • Must complete the Day 1 SIMs Lab requirements for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
  • Must be able to float among all ICU areas and MedSurg/Tele units, including sister campuses Westgate in Glendale and AZ General Laveen
  • Must have their own vehicle if traveling as part of a travel team

Preferred Qualifications

  • NIHSS
  • Level I trauma center experience
  • Teaching hospital experience
  • Previous travel experience for ED and Neuro ICU

Unit Details

  • ICU Float Cluster includes Tower 2, Tower 4, and 4 Neuro
  • Tower 2: medical, surgical, and trauma patients; 1:2 ratio
  • Tower 4: cardiothoracic ICU specializing in lung transplants and ECMO; 1:2 ratio
  • 4 Neuro: neuro-specific ICU; 1:2 ratio
  • Tele ratio: 1:4

Schedule and Work Expectations

  • 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
  • Holidays required based on unit needs
  • No call
  • May be placed on standby due to low census with a 30-minute response time
  • Schedule is set 4 weeks in advance and may change 2 weeks in advance based on hospital needs
  • Travelers are expected to arrive by 7AM/7PM for shift huddle
  • Bedside report is required
  • 2-person skin assessment is completed within the first 4 hours of the shift

Additional Notes

  • Travelers cannot work another assignment or contract at the same time
  • Must have been gone from CommonSpirit for 12 months as perm staff to be considered
  • No facial piercings and only natural hair colors
  • Onboarding must be complete by 1pm CST Wednesday before start
  • Weekly orientations are on Mondays, except holiday weeks
  • All critical drips and all types of respiratory support may be encountered
  • Tele monitors use GE equipment, and the RN must be able to read a tele strip
