Peds/Neo Respiratory Therapist

Role

• Peds/Neo Respiratory Therapist
• Department: RT
• Unit coverage: NICU or PICU
• Patient population: Peds and neonates

Schedule

• 13-week contract
• 3 12-hour day shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Holidays: possibly scheduled
• Preference scheduling permitted

Required Qualifications

• Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in West Virginia
• Registered Respiratory Therapist experience
• 2 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
• Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS issued by American Heart Association
• NRP
• Experience working with NICU Level 4 or PICU patients
• Experience with Hamilton ventilators
• Experience with Servo ventilators
• Experience with aerogen therapy
• Experience with Volara therapy
• Experience with cough assist devices
• Experience with IPV (Intrapulmonary Percussive Ventilation)
• Experience with NAVA (Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist)
• Experience assisting with intubation and airway management

Preferred Qualifications

• CRT is not preferred; RRT is preferred

Job Duties

• All aspects of respiratory care
• Aerogen, Volara, cough assist, IPV, NAVA
• Hamilton and Servo ventilators
• Airway management
• Intrahospital transport
• Assist only for intubation

Additional Details

• RTs will not be the only RT in house
• Preferred staffing: 8 RTs per shift
• No call or standby call
• Floating not required
• Scrub color: stone/light gray
• Hospitalist or intensivist in house
• Department-specific orientation provided; length depends on previous experience
