Location

• Red Bluff, California

Contract

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour night shifts

Unit Details

• ICU with 8 total beds
• Average census: 3–4 patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1–2
• Common patient types include sepsis, medical-surgical, DKA, CHF, COPD, and borderline stepdown patients

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in California
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• 2–5 years of ICU experience
• Experience working in a smaller ICU
• Ability to titrate drips
• Must be able to work independently, adapt quickly, and function as a team player

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS
• TNCC
• Cerner experience

Schedule

• Self-scheduling to some degree
• Schedules are made 30–45 days in advance
• Every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts in 4 weeks
• Holidays worked in permanent staff rotation

Floating

• Rarely floats
• May float to med-surg
• May float to pediatrics if qualified
• May float to the ER if qualified

Additional Details

• No nurse aides on the unit; unit clerk is available
• Hospitalist is in house 24/7
• ICU tele-intensivist is available 24/7
• RT is in ICU 24/7 and takes patient assignments
• RT equipment includes Via or Hamilton vents
• Tele/monitor techs are on the unit
• Navy blue scrubs
• Unit orientation: 2–3 shifts
• First to float
