Med Surg/PCU/Tele RN - 5N Neuro Trauma

Role Summary

• 13-week RN assignment in a 28-bed PCU/Med Surg/Tele unit with a neuro trauma focus.

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• NIHSS
• 2 years of MS, PCU, or ICU experience
• Experience in the setting within the last 1 year
• Drip experience
• Must be open to learning vents
• Must be able to clock in and out at the facility

Preferred

• Home trach vents experience

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5; Nights 1:5-6, depending on acuity
• Common patient types include strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barré, myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, TNK/TPA within 24 hours, endovascular neuro cases, AMS, dementia, and trauma/ortho injuries
• RT equipment includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, VapoTherm, and EtCO2
• Central monitor is located in a different area
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Nurse aides are on the unit
• Floating may include sister MS units and mixed care, cardiac, general, MS ortho, and heme/onc areas

Schedule

• 12-hour day and night shifts: 7:00-7:30
• Self-scheduling with manager balancing
• Weekend requirement: every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Holiday requirement: typically 2 of 3 winter holidays, otherwise every other holiday
• No call requirement

Orientation

• 1 shift of general orientation
• 1 shift with a preceptor

Additional Notes

• Travelers should be open to first-time travel assignments
• Submission must note if the clinician has ever worked for Marshfield; if so, there must be an end date at least 6 months before submission
