• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period

• Return to Origin (RTO) Restrictions: 7 days
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours)

Certifications Required

• Required:

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all nurses)
• Preferred:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) if applicable

Special Requirements

• Telemetry skills including reading rhythms
• Experience with cardiac medications and drips (no titration)
• Adherence to dress code: no artificial or nail enhancements, no Crocs with holes, navy blue uniform
• Must work weekends and holidays

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

• Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide and nationwide)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks quarterly
• Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab units (not required for Missouri)
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required
• State-specific searches for Missouri and Illinois as applicable

Licenses & Certifications Verification

• Primary source verification of professional license (Missouri licenses verified via NURSYS)
• IV Certification required for LPN/LVN in Missouri
• Annual renewal or as specified for certifications like NIH Stroke, ACLS, BLS, CPI, etc.

Health & Immunization

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
• Tdap vaccine or declination required (expires every 10 years)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination required (with no exemptions allowed in certain units)
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be current throughout assignment
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season

Facility-Specific Documents

• HIPAA Acknowledgement, Confidentiality Form, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Regulatory Compliance Education, Hep B Declination, TB Questionnaire, Hand Hygiene Policy, Fingernail Policy, Dress Code Policy
• Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions)

• Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
• Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required and must be current

• Performance evaluations may be requested but are not mandatory for extensions or per diem

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs comfortable with cardiac monitoring, medication administration (non-titration drips), and working night shifts with weekend coverage in an acute care setting. Compliance with detailed background checks, certifications, and health documentation is mandatory.
