NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Work in a Level III NICU caring for preterm patients as early as 22-23 weeks gestation.
- Manage respiratory support including HFNC, BCPAP, Drager Ventilation, HFOV, Jet Ventilators.
- Provide Total Body Cooling in unit.
- Participate in deliveries for preterm or high-risk patients.
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients.
- Floating assignments to Pediatrics and Mother/Baby units, as well as to a nearby NICU.
- Weekend requirement: every third weekend.
- No on-call requirement.
- Guaranteed hours.
- First-time travel nurses are welcome.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania.
- Minimum 3 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute care, teaching hospital with 244 staffed beds.
- Charting system: Epic.
- Scrub color: Navy Blue.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; updated every 3 years.
- Education verification (diploma, degree, or transcripts).
- Current license verification and primary source validation before assignment start.
- Drug screening: 10-panel within 45 days of start, updated annually.
- Physical exam or statement of good health within 1 year prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific approved mask types required).
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap (administered after age 18)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccines or positive IgG titers
- Varicella vaccines or positive IgG titer
- Hepatitis B titer and vaccine series or declination
- Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold or T-Spot) within 6 months prior to start; chest x-ray if positive test.
- Annual TB questionnaire for positive TB test or in lieu of annual TB test renewal.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Sept–April 1). Exemptions require mask wearing.
- Respirator clearance within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- Required references: 3 total (most recent manager, previous manager, and peer).
- Employment application and skills checklist required.
- State-specific clearances for Pennsylvania including:
- Child Abuse Search
- Department of Aging Fingerprints
- Department of Human Services Fingerprint Results
- PATCH Search Results
Additional Notes
- Pending license acceptance is not allowed.
- Return staff must provide previous location and dates worked if employed at any related locations.
- Rate differences apply for local candidates.
- Restrictions on return to office (RTO) are at manager’s discretion.
Prior Travel Experience
- First-time travelers are accepted; prior travel experience is not required.
