Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – IMC Unit (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Work in Intermediate Care (IMC) Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units.
• Shift: Evening/Night, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday.
• Schedule includes every other weekend and some holidays.
• Patient care involves telemetry oncology, cardiac, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units.
• Ventilator and transplant patient care experience required.
• Must pass a Telemetry test prior to starting.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 1 year of Intermediate Care experience, with recent experience within the last year.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Telemetry experience.
• Ventilator experience.
• Transplant patient care experience.

Certifications & Testing

• BLS and ACLS certifications must be current and AHA-issued.
• Telemetry test (Adult or Pediatric as applicable) must be completed through the facility’s Learning Management System (LMS) with a minimum passing score of 80% overall and 100% in lethal rhythms subcategory.
• Candidates are allowed up to 3 attempts with remediation required after the 2nd failed attempt. Failure after 3 attempts results in contract cancellation.
• Annual renewal of certifications and telemetry testing is required.

Experience Requirements

• Telemetry experience in oncology, cardiac, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units.
• Ventilator and transplant patient care experience required.
• No explicit prior travel experience required.

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace, nationwide sex offender check, and state-specific caregiver screening.
• Wisconsin Caregiver Screening and BID Form must be completed and stored in compliance file.
• Background review required for any pending or convicted criminal charges (excluding traffic violations).
• Drug screening required per standard clinical candidate protocols.
• Employment application and 2 clinical references from the last 3 years required.
• Annual skills checklist required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes; TB questionnaire updated annually.
• Proof of immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – 2 doses or positive titers required.
  • Varicella – 2 doses or positive titer required; history of chickenpox not accepted.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series and positive antibody titer or facility-specific declination form.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (September to April).
• Other vaccines or declinations as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for specific departments).

Additional Facility Requirements

• Photo for badge must be submitted prior to start (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons).
• Completion of facility-specific communicable disease form within 90 days of start.
• Medical or religious exemption forms for vaccines must be approved as per facility policy.

Work Hours

• 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
• Night shift primarily, with some weekend and holiday coverage required.
