Behavioral Health Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Helena, Montana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care primarily to children and adolescents with behavioral health needs, including suicidal ideations, ADHD, and spectrum disorders.
- Work in a 24/7, 82-bed children's hospital setting.
- Night shift schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 PM to 6:30 AM).
- Every other weekend required.
- No on-call duties.
- Charting performed in Epic.
- Locals accepted at travel rate.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Montana.
- Pediatric Behavioral Health experience within the last year.
- Behavioral Health experience.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Milieu management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification preferred; facility will provide training if not currently held.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver's License or State ID).
- Background checks within 1 year, including SS trace, county searches for last 7 years, nationwide, and sex offender registry.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start.
- Physical exam within the last 12 months.
- Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or T-Spot) within 1 year or chest X-ray within 5 years if previously positive. Annual TB questionnaire if applicable.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
- Signed acknowledgment of facility safety manual and Joint Commission training (updated annually).
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to orientation (approx. 8-12 hours).
- Two professional references within 3 years.
- Skills checklist required.
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams as applicable.

- Facility operates 24/7.
- Population served is primarily pediatric behavioral health patients.
- No prior travel experience required.
