Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbia, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Requires 2 years of Registered Nurse experience with strong neuro/spine expertise.
• Open to first-time travel nurses.
• No local candidates within 50 miles accepted.
• Position involves active physical demands including ambulating, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs.
• Exposure to patients with contagious illnesses is routine.
• Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year.
• Rotating shifts, holidays, and inclement weather work required.
• Must be able to:

  • Work full contract term at assigned location
  • Work full assigned shifts
  • Take call
  • Work assigned weekends
  • Work at least 50% of holidays during contract

Shift Details

• Day shift, 4 days per week
• 10-hour shifts (6:30 AM to 5:00 PM)
• 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Minimum 2 years of neuro/spine experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
• Strong neuro/spine experience is essential.
• Prior travel experience is not required (1st time travelers accepted).

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required.
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation required.
• Background check: 7-year history within 60 days of start, including alias search, counties lived/worked/school, national and federal criminal, sex offender, social security trace, and international checks if applicable.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusion screenings required within 60 days of start.
• Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) or Missouri Caregiver search must be on file within 60 days; cannot start with both pending.
• Education and employment history documentation required with no gaps over 30 days in last 7 years.
• Two professional references from the last 2 years required.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, initiated within 48 hours of signing.
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, updated annually; positive TB requires chest x-ray and INH treatment documentation or facility-specific recommendation.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or approved exemptions for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR vaccines or positive titers)
  • Hepatitis B series or positive/reactive titer (declinations no longer accepted for new candidates after 7/1/2023)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• Negative 7-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
• Fit mask test valid within 1 year (3M 1870+, 1860R, 1860S, or 9205 models).

Additional Notes

• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement and HIPAA compliance required.
• Must be able to provide a forward-facing photo for badge (new candidates only).
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment with exposure to infectious diseases.
• Must be flexible to work holidays, weekends, and inclement weather conditions.
