Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Los Banos, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
Weekly Hours: 40 hours
Every other weekend required
Must be able to take on-call shifts 12-14 days per month
Local base rate differs

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in California
Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Background and Compliance Requirements

7-year background check including:
- Social Security trace with all aliases
- County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
- Nationwide sex offender search
- Education verification (highest level achieved; BSN preferred)
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana due to CA law)
Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps
Employment verification for up to 7 years, with explanations for gaps over 30 days

Health and Immunization Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start (must state "cleared for work" or equivalent)
Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
TB screening: Negative QGold or TSPOT within 90 days or 2-step PPD (annual renewal required)
Immunizations or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or declination)
- Varicella
Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30)
Color blindness exam (in-person, if applicable)
Respiratory safety clearance, renewed annually

Competency and Skills

Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some telemetry units (verify applicability)

TB questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days, renewed annually

Must be able to comply with every other weekend and on-call requirements
