ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Columbus, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Patient Population

• Adults to Geriatrics

Unit & Work Environment

• ICU setting with high volume of ventilators and arterial lines
• Care involves all potential ICU diagnoses
• Multidisciplinary rounds every morning including intensivist, bedside RN, PharmD, RRT, OT/PT, dietitian, case manager, wound care
• Bedside RN participates in patient transport (e.g., to CT) alongside tech and RRT if patient is ventilated
• Nightshift Nurse Practitioners place central lines, vascular catheters, arterial lines, attend codes, manage ICU care issues, and admit patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3
• Electronic systems used: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Floating: Yes, within facility and sister campus as needed and within scope of practice
• Call: None required
• Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
• Holiday work: Required to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (see below)
• Return to Office (RTO) for orientation: Maximum 7 days

• New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Georgia
• Minimum 2 years ICU nursing experience, including ICU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Competency with the Baxter PrisMax CRRT machine (Agency RNs do not take CRRT patients unless competency is demonstrated)
• Experience titrating continuous infusions of sedation agents and/or pain medications
• Experience titrating continuous infusions of vasopressors
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including education verification
• State license verification within 30 days prior to start
• Annual Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with TB questionnaire updated annually)
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
  • Flu vaccine or signed declination (required during flu season)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (instant drug screen acceptable)
• Skills checklist updated within 12 months
• Verification of most recent work history (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
• Two clinical references required

Orientation & Onboarding

• Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 12 hours for 12-week assignment)
• Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays in compliance may push start date by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
• Candidate must review and sign facility code of conduct and dress/professional appearance policies prior to start

• Floating may include sister campus within scope of practice
• No call responsibilities
• Night shift only, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
