Registered Nurse (ER - Adult)

Schedule & Work Details

Shift Hours: 7 PM - 7 AM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed
Floating: Required to float within skillset
Locals Accepted: No RNs within 75 miles accepted (radius rule)
Charting System: EPIC experience required
Accepts First-Time Travelers: Yes

Licenses & Certifications Required

Active New York Single State RN license (NY is not Compact)
BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI accepted
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI accepted
NIH Stroke Certification (as required by unit)
PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM certifications as required by unit
State License Verification and NURSYS Verification required within 30 days of start

Clinical Skills Required

IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, starting/maintaining IVs, IV vasopressors
CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
Care for CVA (stroke), neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury (TBI)
Cardiac monitoring and management of dysrhythmias
Emergency care including adult/pediatric ED, gunshot wounds, orthopedic trauma
Isolation precautions, triage, pediatric spinal cord injury care

Patient Ratios: 1:5 (Adults, Geriatrics)
Patient Types: All emergency diagnoses
Special Equipment: Bair hugger, rapid infuser, safe patient handling equipment
Scrub Color: Navy blue and white combinations

Background & Verification

7-year criminal background check required within 3 months of start
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months and run monthly

Foreign equivalency evaluation required if education obtained internationally
Work history verification required (at least 2 past employments)
References: Required for travel agency candidates (2 references within 3 years)
