Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Tucson, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a busy, high-volume Level III-IV NICU at a hospital with a neonatal transport team
- Patient ratio: 1:3
- Must have at least 2 years of NICU RN experience, including Level III-IV NICU experience
- Will float to Pediatrics (PEDS) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) as needed
- Schedule includes 6 weekend shifts per contract
- No on-call required
- No first-time travelers accepted
- No local candidates within 75 miles
Required Experience & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years NICU RN experience (Level III-IV NICU required)
- Prior travel experience required (No first-time travelers)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- EPIC electronic medical record experience
Orientation
- Orientation held twice a month
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- CPI or MAB (Crisis Prevention Institute or Management of Assaultive Behavior)
- NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for certain units
- HIPAA Competency (updated annually)
- Tech Cert Verification (as applicable)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
Required Health Documents
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician, NP, or PA
- Fit mask testing (N95) within 1 year of start
- Full TDAP vaccine within past 10 years (declinations allowed except for Pediatrics, PICU, Pediatric ER, Mom & Baby, Labor & Delivery units)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 3 months of start, renewed annually
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declinations allowed with signed form)
- Varicella
- Drug testing within 30 days of start (12 panel)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30)
Background Checks & Documentation
- Background check must be completed within 30 days of assignment start (7-year history, including all counties and states lived/worked)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- State license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Employment application with last 7 years of work history and explanation of gaps over 30 days
- Two professional references from employment within 3 years, including one supervisory reference
- Skills checklist updated annually
Additional Notes
- No locals within 75 miles allowed
- Must meet all facility-specific orientation and documentation requirements
- Pass/fail testing during orientation with remediation and potential contract review for failures
This position is ideal for experienced NICU RNs with prior travel assignments looking to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with pediatric and neonatal care exposure.
