Travel Registered Nurse (Step Down Unit) - Cleveland, Ohio

Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Step Down Unit)

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm), rotating day/night shifts with possible variability to meet hospital needs
• Unit: HVTI-Stepdown (Progressive Care Unit/Stepdown)

Required Experience

• Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
• Must have 18 months recent Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted)
• PCU/Progressive care experience preferred but not required

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Permanent Ohio RN license or Compact State RN license in hand
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required
• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation

Work Requirements

• Must work at least every other holiday
• Pass ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety testing during orientation

Orientation & Training

• Completion of online onboarding modules prior to start is mandatory
• Pass/fail testing on ECG and medication dosing during orientation
• Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months and updated annually

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025)
• Fit mask (N95) fit test within 12 months, updated annually
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with annual updates)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
  • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Background & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID required on assignment
• Background check required prior to start, including:

  • FCRA compliant 7-year search
  • SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months, updated annually (code 4723.09 for nursing)
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite

References & Employment History

• Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area

This position is ideal for experienced Step Down RNs with strong clinical skills, Ohio licensure, and the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts in a high-acuity progressive care environment.
