Position Details
- Job Title: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)
- Shift: 12-hour shifts starting at 06:45, occasional float to 10:45 starts, and occasional float to nights (no more than 3 night shifts per contract)
- Days of the Week: Sunday through Saturday (weekend shifts required as per unit needs)
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs and between like units
- Scrubs: Provided
- Unit Info: 45 Operating Rooms, Level 1 Trauma Center
- Time Off Restrictions: Maximum 10 RTO days approved; no RTO allowed during specific periods in 2026
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3 years overall experience OR 3 years experience in Level 1 or Level 2 trauma
- First Timers: Not accepted (prior travel experience required)
- Certifications:
- DORA (Colorado state license for Surgical Tech)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- National certification for Surgical Techs through NBSTSA required
- Licensure: Colorado State License required for Surgical Tech
- Additional Certifications:
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, and others are not required for this role unless specified by unit (not applicable here)
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado CBI, education verification, and other standard screenings required within 60 days of start
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start and annually (specific approved masks)
- Immunizations and titers: TDAP, MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu seasonal vaccination (or exemption)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Drug testing within 30 days of start and updated annually
- COVID vaccine documentation or signed declination required
- Color Blind Exam (Ishihara) required prior to start (online testing not accepted)
- Competency Exams: Must be current within 1 year and updated annually, including medication/pharmacology, core competencies, OSHA, and others as applicable
- References: Two references from the last two years required, including one from employment within the last year, from a Charge RN, Manager, Supervisor, or above
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 years of employment required; gaps greater than 30 days must be explained
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Weekend shifts are required based on unit needs
- Floating within scope and between like units is expected
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
This position is ideal for experienced Surgical Techs with trauma experience who have prior travel contract experience and meet the licensure and certification requirements for Colorado.
