RN, Circulator - Surgery

Location: Lafayette, Louisiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 06:30 AM – 07:00 PM, Friday, Saturday, Sunday (3x12 weekend shift)

Job Description

• Work as a circulating RN in Surgery with exposure to General, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Urology, and Robotics cases.
• Weekend program participation alongside WOW techs and call teams.
• Charge experience preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana.
• Minimum of 5 years of OR Circulate experience.
• OR Circulate experience within the last year.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• PALS certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

Professional Documentation

• Resume/Profile submission required.
• Criminal background check within 30 days prior to start, including:

  • SSN Address Trace (7 years)
  • County criminal searches for all counties lived/worked in last 7 years (state checks not accepted)
  • National criminal check including NSO, OFAC, OIG, and SAM
  • Education and employment verification (last 5 years)
  • Driving record verification
• HRIS form submission required.
• Badge photo (forward-facing, well-lit, neutral background, JPEG).

Skills & Competency Testing (must be current within 1 year prior to start)

• Unit-specific skills checklist relevant to scope of practice.
• Competency exam with passing score ≥ 80%.
• Core competencies including HIPAA, Patient Bill of Rights, Safety Orientation, Bloodborne Pathogens, Fire Safety, Infection Control, Elder Abuse and Neglect, Age Specific Care, Cultural Diversity, Advance Directives.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Amsler Grid Vision Test.
• Eye exam including Ishihara Color Test and Snellen Vision Test within 1 year prior to start.
• COVID-19 vaccine or exemption accepted (optional).
• MMR: Proof of 2 immunizations, positive titer, or declination with signed statement.
• Hepatitis B: Proof of 3 immunizations, positive titer, or declination with required signatures.
• Influenza vaccine (optional; medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation).
• TB Test: Negative QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year or 2-step skin test (1 within 30 days, 1 within 1 year). If positive, MD note or proof of treatment required.
• Annual TB Questionnaire within 6 months of start; if positive, evaluation and treatment proof required.
• Varicella: Proof of 2 immunizations, positive titer, or declination with signed statement.
• Tdap: Proof of vaccination within past 10 years or declination with required signatures.
• Health statement signed within 1 year confirming ability to work without restrictions.
• Fit test for N95 mask (3M 1860, 1860s, or 1870+) within 1 year prior to start, updated annually.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start.

Summary

This is a 13-week long-term assignment for an RN Circulator in Surgery working weekend 12-hour shifts in Lafayette, Louisiana. The role requires an active RN license, BLS and PALS certifications, and a variety of health screenings and competency validations. Charge nurse experience is preferred but not mandatory. Prior travel experience is not required.
