Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. You will assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care while promoting patient comfort, education, and satisfaction. The role includes supervising licensed and non-licensed staff, mentoring, and participating in quality and safety improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments; make sound independent clinical decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, and implement plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks and mentor staff; foster teamwork and communication.
- Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure environment.
- Recognize complex patient data to prioritize care and anticipate discharge needs.
- Address cultural and ethnic considerations in patient care planning.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
