Surgical Technician 2 - Operating Room

• Day shift
• Hours: 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week

Job Description

• Functions as an integral part of the perioperative team under RN supervision during the intraoperative period.
• Maintains a sterile environment by applying principles of asepsis.
• Demonstrates competency in technical and psychomotor skills relevant to surgical procedures.
• Provides age-specific care to obstetrical patients following department policies.
• Assists with organization and coordination of supplies and equipment to ensure efficiency.
• Maintains safety for patients, coworkers, and self, adhering to safety and legal requirements.
• Participates in room turnover, setup, and equipment sterilization and maintenance.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of surgical technician experience.
• Ability to independently scrub basic surgical procedures.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills related to surgical procedures.

Education

• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology
  OR
• Certificate of completion of a Surgical Technology program

Certifications and Licensure

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association
• State fingerprinting clearance (IDPH Fingerprinting)

Knowledge and Skills

• Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology.
• Understanding of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers as they relate to surgical patient care.
• Knowledge and practice of patient care concepts and perioperative teamwork.
• Proficient in sterile technique during surgical procedures.

No prior travel experience required.
