Overview

Travel contract for an experienced ICU nurse in San Luis Obispo, California.
Contract length: 13 weeks.
Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift, 36 hours per week.

Unit Details

ICU unit with 11 beds, all private rooms.
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1-2.
Charge nurse takes a small patient load.
No nurse aides.
Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
Holidays: worked in rotation with permanent staff.
Scrub color: navy.
Tele/monitor techs are on day shift; nurses are required to read tele strips.
RT is available 24/7.
Pharmacy is not available 24/7.
Floor-specific orientation: 2 shifts.

Required Qualifications

2 full years of ICU experience.
Active BLS.
Active ACLS.
NIH.
CA License.
Experience with chest tubes, art lines, and swans.

Preferred

Travel experience preferred.

Float Scope

May float to tele (1 to 4) or MS (1 to 5).

Common Patient Types

Open heart, general surgery, swans, vents, chest tubes, art lines, CRRT, Impellas, STEMIs, stroke, balloon pumps.
No neuro on unit.
