Overview

• Role: ER RN
• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Evenings
• Hours: 12-hour shifts, 48 hours per week
• Setting: Level 1 ER with 65 beds and 2 trauma bays

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• ACLS
• ENPC or PALS
• TNCC or TNS
• Negative drug screen required for all panels

Preferred

• 2 years of nursing experience
• 1 prior travel assignment
• SANE RN experience
• Experience working in a teaching hospital with residents

Schedule and Work Expectations

• Every other weekend required
• Holidays required every other holiday or based on department needs
• No call requirement
• Travelers do not self-schedule
• Block scheduling may be accommodated
• May be floated as a help-all on other units, rarely

Clinical Context

• Patient population includes newborns through elderly patients
• Common cases include minor to critically ill patients, cardiac arrest, strokes, heart attacks, and Level 1/2 trauma patients
• Travelers may care for stabilized trauma patients after transfer to a pod, but are not likely to be primary nurses in the trauma bay
• Nurses should be able to interpret and act on rhythms
• ED nurses are expected to be proficient in vasopressor drips, cardiac drips, antihypertensive drugs, and other titrated drips
• Respiratory therapists assist with vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow
• Nurses and techs draw labs; phlebotomy may draw for boarders at times
• ED techs are present
• Monitor techs are present
• Radiology staff or transport handles X-ray and CT transport
