Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) - Operating Room

Unit Information

• Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
• Number of open heart rooms: 2
• Number of hybrid rooms: 1
• Staff on unit: 1 Charge RN, 5 RNs, 2 Scrub Techs
• Shift details:

  • Day shift: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with on-call evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Night shift: On-call only
• Patient ratio: 1:1
• Documentation system: Meditech
• Call requirements: Evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Must live within 30 minutes of the hospital for call response

Typical Procedures

• Open heart surgeries including:

  • Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)
  • Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)
  • Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR)
  • Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) implantation
  • Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
  • Aortic dissections and repairs
  • Elephant trunk procedures
  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
  • Mitral valve clips
  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) repair

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) technologist experience
• CVOR technologist experience within the last year
• De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting

• Dress code: Hospital-issued scrubs
• Must be adaptable to a fast-paced unit and able to function independently
