Adult Medical Specialty (AMSU) RN

Location

• Peoria, Illinois

Contract Length

• 15 weeks

Schedule

• Nights, 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday requirement varies

Required Qualifications

• RN
• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• Last four digits of SSN
• Clinician’s middle initial
• Requested time off
• Negative drug screen for all panels
• Experience with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes

Preferred

• EPIC experience
• Travel experience on a MedSurg floor
• Experience in a level I trauma center

Unit Details

• Adult Medical Speciality Unit
• 56 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5 on 07:00-23:00; 1:5-6 on 23:00-07:00

Patient Population

• Acute care general medicine, including cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes, acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, behavioral health, and addictions

Clinical Support and Equipment

• Free charge RN on each floor
• PCT support for vital signs, accucheks, bladder scans, and ADLs
• BiPAP/CPAP for sleep apnea, inhalers, and suctioning
• House-wide telemetry monitored remotely; RN can view strips on pack or computer

Floating

• May float to other acute care general med areas: nephrology, neuro, ortho, oncology

Additional Notes

• Local placements accepted within 50 miles
• Local rate adjustment applies within 50 miles
• 12 hours of non-billable orientation
• Call-off policy: equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift
• Any color professional scrubs
• No visible tattoos
• No visible piercings except ears
• Unit-specific orientation: 2-3 shifts
