NICU RN

Overview

• Travel contract in Tacoma, Washington.
• 13-week assignment.
• Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
• 34-bed NICU.
• Floating to Post Partum as needed.
• The unit is being staffed with 3-4 night shift travelers for the summer, with a possibility to extend until Xmas.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Washington.
• NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (2 years of experience).
• NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year.
• BLS.
• ACLS.
• NRP.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.

Schedule / Unit Details

• Orientation/education hours are not guaranteed during the first 2 weeks of the assignment; expect 25+ hours.
• Schedule is done in 6-week blocks and posted 2 weeks before each block starts.
• Weekends as needed.
• Holidays required.
• Charge nurse coverage is present, with one charge nurse per shift.
• Night shift charge traveler is also being sought.
• Ratios: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3-4.
• EMR: EPIC.
• Tele/monitor tech: Phillips cardiac monitors.
• Drips used: insulin, dopamine.
• Ventilator: Drager 500.
• Neonatologist in house 8 hours/day, 7 days/week.
• Advanced practice providers available 24/7.
• IV team: NICU PICC team.
• RT available 24/7.
• Pharmacy available 8 hours/day, 7 days/week, with house pharmacy support after hours.
• Floor-specific orientation provided.

Patient Population / Unit Notes

• Common diagnoses include 24-week gestation patients.
• No surgical services.
• No cooling.
• No ECMO.
