Travel Nurse Job Opportunity: Med Surg Innovations RN

Location: Fargo, North Dakota
Specialty: 8AB - Med Surg Innovations RN
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Requirements

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting (250+ beds)
    • Experience in a busy Level 1 trauma center
    • Preferred: Prior travel experience highly preferred (not explicitly required)
  • Licensure & Certifications:
    • Active BLS (AHA) certification required
    • Active North Dakota or Compact RN License required
  • Skills:
    • EPIC experience (must note on resume where used)
    • Ability to perform head-to-toe and focused assessments
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills
    • Thorough attention to detail and understanding of various disease processes
  • Other:
    • Willingness to float to all units/locations within Fargo as needed

Job Details

  • Unit: 32-bed medical-surgical unit (all single rooms)
  • Patient Population: Adult patients
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:
    • Day (7:00 AM - 11:00 PM): 1:4-5
    • Night (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM): 1:5-6
  • Shift:
    • 12-hour shifts, rotating day/night
    • Every other weekend and every other holiday
    • Shift rotation varies by unit needs; travelers can self-schedule but may be adjusted to balance the unit
  • Floating: May be required to float to other med-surg units within the facility and nearby locations

Orientation & Training

  • 8-hour classroom training in the LEAD Center
  • 24 hours of unit-specific training

  • OmniCell
  • Philips Care Monitors
  • Glucometers
  • Bladder scanners
  • Language Line
  • Zebra phones

Additional Notes

  • Travelers living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible for this assignment.
  • Travelers living 60 to 80 miles away may be subject to a reduced travel rate.
  • Must disclose if previously worked for the facility; a minimum 6-month gap is required before reapplying.
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue
  • All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility.
