Med Surg RN (Days, 3x12) - Camden, South Carolina

Overview

• Role: Med Surg RN (Travel/Contract)
• Location: Camden, South Carolina
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days, 3x12s, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (36 hours per week)
• Unit: 54 beds, 1:6 ratio
• Hospital: Acute care, 119 staffed beds
• Float: Will float within scope to meet needs, including between like units and sister facilities

Schedule and Expectations

• Holidays required: Thanksgiving, plus Christmas or Christmas Eve pending unit need, and other recognized holidays as needed
• Weekends: Every other weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Block schedule: Can be requested prior to assignment, but approval is not guaranteed
• Local candidates: Accepted case-by-case within a 60-mile radius
• RTO: All RTO must be included at time of submission; approval is based on facility needs
• Hurricane season (June through November): Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams. Travelers should not confirm a new or extended assignment during this season if this is a problem.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• 2+ years of Med Surg experience, with Med Surg experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• IV insertion skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Telemetry (Tele) and/or management of cardiac gtt experience

Onboarding Requirements

• Background check, including the past 7 years of locations lived or worked, run within 1 year of start
• Drug screen (10-panel) within 90 days of start
• Physical exam within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start, plus annual TB questionnaire
• Immunizations or titers for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B; Tdap within 10 years or declination
• Flu vaccination or exemption during flu season; COVID vaccination highly preferred
• Two clinical references, at least one from the same unit
• Complete employment application covering all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
• Work history verification of the last 3 clinical employers
• Education verification (diploma or transcript)
• Completed facility modules before start, approximately 2 hours on a computer (not a phone); travelers not finished at orientation will be sent home
