SICU Registered Nurse

Overview

  • Travel/contract role in New Orleans, Louisiana
  • High-acuity ICU assignment
  • Patient ratio: 1:2
  • Float requirement to other ICUs and step-down units
  • No block scheduling requests
  • Shift options: 3x12s or 4x12s

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Louisiana
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • SICU - Surgical Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
  • SICU - Surgical Intensive Care experience within the last year
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Transplant experience
  • Experience with Epic

Experience / Clinical Skills

  • ICU experience
  • Experience with continuous renal replacement therapy
  • Experience caring for post-op CABG, valve replacement/repair, aortic dissection, IABP, and PA catheter patients
  • Experience with general post-op surgical recovery care
  • Experience with transplant recovery patients, including liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas

Preferred

  • Experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps

Assignment Expectations

  • May be assigned to an emergency team during an emergency event and may be expected to remain at the facility until the event passes or serve on the relief team
  • Must report as assigned by the immediate unit manager during an emergency event

  • Current valid driver’s license, state ID, or government photo ID
  • 7-year criminal background check
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check
  • HHS/OIG check
  • Sex offender search
  • NURSYS verification
  • Competency exam
  • Skills checklist

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit testing within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start
  • Drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella immunity or vaccination documentation
  • Seasonal flu vaccination, declination, or approved exemption during flu season
  • Photo for badge
  • CLEAR enrollment for workforce access
  • Emergency preparedness checklist during hurricane season
  • COVID-19 medical or religious exemption form if requesting an exemption
