Job Details

• Unit: Medical Surgical
• Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3 shifts of 12 hours each, option to sign 36 or 48 hours)
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 shifts plus one day of on-site training with educator)
• Float Requirement: None (may occasionally work as sitter or monitor tech)
• Scheduling: Self-schedule
• Unit Systems: Meditech, SBAR, Omnicell
• Scrubs: Navy color required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • Local County, Federal Court, National Criminal Database, DOJ Sex Offender Search
  • Education Verification for highest degree specific to nursing profession
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (within 30 days if past positive TB)
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 1 year of start; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 5 years and physician-signed TB questionnaire within 30 days of start
  • Immunizations: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines each; boosters required if negative/equivocal titers)
  • Hepatitis B: Titer or vaccination series; if negative/equivocal titer, must sign facility-specific Hep B declination
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1–10/31)
• Fit Testing: N95 mask fit test required within 1 year of start; PAPR training not accepted in this facility
• Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency as applicable
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Not required for Medical Surgical specialty
• Orientation: Unit orientation shifts plus one day of on-site training with educator
• Interview: Manager interview required prior to offer
