Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Ann Arbor, Michigan
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Rotating Days/Nights (3 shifts of 12 hours each; Day 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, Night 7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Patient Population: Pediatric ECMO patients (stable on ECMO), including congenital heart disease, congenital diaphragmatic hernias, and respiratory failure
- Unit: Large volume pediatric and adult ECMO program
- Nurse-to-patient Ratios:
- Pediatric ECMO: 1:1, occasionally 1:2
- Adult ECMO: 1:3 with remote monitoring and rounding care model
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week scheduling period
- Call: None
- Float: None
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Michigan
- Minimum 1 year of Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ECMO experience
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if past positive TB, clear chest X-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire required
- Fit mask test within 1 year (N95 or equivalent masks accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (11/1–3/31), no exemptions allowed
Orientation and Facility Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific orientation paperwork on first day
- Required to review and sign confidentiality agreement, code of conduct, conflict of interest disclosure, sexual harassment and misconduct policy, and complete Cornerstone training modules prior to start
- Pass/fail competency testing (EKG/medication) required upon arrival for ICU units, including this unit
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background checks required within 30 days of start, including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG verifications
- E-Verify or attestation required prior to start
- ID badge and pager must be returned at assignment end to avoid fees
