Job Opportunity: Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Saint Peters, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
• Unit Focus: Stroke care, telemetry, step-down, post cardiac catheterization care
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4-6 patients
• Average Daily Census: 16 patients
• Charting System: EPIC electronic health records
• Floating: Required to float between two nearby facilities as needed within service line/scope
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in telemetry or step-down units
• Experience with stroke patients and post cardiac catheterization care
• Telemetry background and stroke care experience required
• Prior travel experience not required; first-time travelers accepted
• Familiarity with adult medical conditions including total joint replacement, neuro spine, general surgery, wounds, diabetes, medical COVID, and oral surgery

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Missouri
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification - must be current and updated annually unless otherwise specified
• Telemetry experience certification or demonstrated competency
• Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., MAB, CPI)

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID) required
• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required
• Drug screening within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing (N95 respirators) required and must be renewed annually
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccine or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Facility-specific compliance documents including HIPAA acknowledgment, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
• Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)

Orientation & Training

• Some orientation will occur outside of typical contract shifts
• Completion of facility-specific online orientation modules (~16 hours) through a learning platform is mandatory before starting
• Unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency tests required and must be updated annually

Additional Notes

• Floating attestation must be signed acknowledging willingness to float between facilities
• Two professional references required (preferably supervisors within the last year)
• Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist must be completed and uploaded prior to start
• Facility provides free parking

Requirements / Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
• Experience in stroke care
• Experience in step-down units
• Experience with post-cardiac catheterization (post cath) care
• Current ACLS certification
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with EPIC electronic health records system
