Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)

Job Description

• Work schedule: Every other weekend required.
• Shift blocks of 6 shifts available.
• No floating to other units for Emergency Department RNs.
• Trauma experience preferred.
• Electronic Health Record system: Cerner.
• No local candidates within a 50-mile radius accepted.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Pennsylvania.
• Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year criminal history search (including SS trace, county searches for last 7 years, nationwide, sex offender registry, and Pennsylvania statewide patch).
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM verification.
  • HHS/OIG exclusion list check.
• Education verification (transcripts, diplomas, or third-party verifications).
• NURSYS verification for RN license.
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search (Childline) within 1 year of start.
• Pennsylvania Department of Human Services FBI fingerprinting within 12 months of start (must be completed in PA).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 6 months of start or chest X-ray within 5 years.
• Immunization or immunity documentation for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within the past 10 years (declination accepted with form).
• COVID-19 vaccination or facility-specific declination required.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season (November-April); mask required if declined through March 31.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
• Alcohol breathalyzer test generally required within 30 days of start (not required at this location).
• Photo for badge (passport style, no filters).
• Completion of facility-specific orientation packet, medical surveillance checklist, and bloodborne pathogen quiz prior to start.
• Completion of vaccine declination forms if applicable (COVID, flu, MMR, Hep B, Tdap).
• Two professional references within 3 years of hire.
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable.

Additional Notes

• Comprehensive Crisis Management certification (MAB or CPI) required annually for Emergency Department staff; online training accepted.
• No onsite classes available for MAB/CPI; certification is at the traveler’s expense.
• Candidate must complete all fingerprinting and background requirements timely to avoid delays in start date.
• No local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius of the facility.

This position offers a focused Emergency Room nursing role on night shifts with no floating, requiring multiple certifications and compliance with Pennsylvania state-specific background and health requirements.
